When looking at publication metrics that measure scholarly productivity, performance, quality and impact/influence, it is important to keep these things in mind:
1) There are varying levels of metrics: journal, article and author
2) No single metric is sufficient for measuring performance or impact
3) No single metric database will capture all publications for an author
4) Data from all metric tools and measures requires review for accuracy
The USF Libraries has created the guide Impact: Library Tools for Promotion and Tenure offering links to traditional sources for documenting impact (journal quality, author profiles, etc.) and more. For assistance in learning more about these resources, contact your librarian.
